Our Story

Born and raised in Egypt, Amir began working with his hands at the young age of eight. His father's business built, sold, and maintained farm equipment. After graduating with a degree in Agricultural Engineering, Amir returned to the family business as the owner and manager. When turmoil against Christians in Egypt escalated in 1988, Amir, his wife, and infant daughter left their homeland and moved to the United States for a better life.

After living through religious extremism and intolerance towards Christians, he is thankful to be living in the United States where he can express his beliefs freely. He brought his creativity and handiwork together and started Nailed to the Cross in 2010.

Amir’s art is faith-based, and the medium of nails honors Jesus’ sacrifice to give us everlasting life. As an artist, he is able to celebrate his religious testimony through art. Integrating farm equipment parts-- such as bolts, washers, and nails-- into the sculpture framework allows for personal expression of his faith and heritage.

Using fire, metal, and an artistic eye, Amir creates his handmade crosses.
